SEND Services

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities support for education authorities, schools and families — specialist support workers, assessment support, and the family work that holds a placement together.

The service

Specialist support around a child, not just a classroom

SEND provision fails at the joins: an assessment that never turns into support, a support worker who leaves mid-term, a family that stops answering the phone. Servicebird is building a network of specialist professionals matched on the specific need rather than on whoever is free.

  • Special Educational Needs and Disabilities supportSupport built around the individual need identified for a child or young person.
  • Specialist support workersProfessionals with the specific experience the placement calls for, vetted for work with children.
  • Educational assessments/supportSupport around assessment processes and the provision that follows from them.
  • Family and community supportThe work outside the school gates that decides whether provision actually holds.

Scope

What the service will cover

Four strands of SEND provision, matched on the same seven checks as every other Servicebird service.

SEND support

Support shaped around the specific needs identified for a child or young person.

Specialist support workers

Professionals with relevant experience, vetted for work with children and young people.

Educational assessments/support

Support through assessment processes and the provision that follows.

Family and community support

Work with families and community settings so provision holds outside school hours.

How it runs

From requirement to delivery

Every assignment follows the same four stages through the Servicebird platform, whatever the service.

  1. 01 REQUEST The organisation submits a requirement — service, location, date and time, and any specialist need.
  2. 02 MATCH Servicebird identifies suitable compliant professionals on requirement, location, availability and specialism.
  3. 03 ACCEPT A suitable professional accepts the assignment through the platform.
  4. 04 DELIVER The service is delivered and managed through the Servicebird platform.

Common questions

Before you book

When will this service be available?

SEND Services is in the expanding service pipeline. The platform architecture is already in place; this service is being onboarded onto it. Register your interest to hear when it opens.

What vetting applies to work with children?

Vetting is matched to the service undertaken. Work with children and young people carries the enhanced checks that setting requires, verified before a professional can accept an assignment.

Can education authorities book at scale?

The platform is built for centralised booking and management across multiple placements, which is the point of putting SEND provision on it.
